Performers' Group (Birnam)

We are aware that a number of you would like the opportunity to work on perfecting some pieces with a view to performing.  This is not practicable within the context of our standard 'one-off' workshop programme - hence Performers' Group, a series of 6 workshops aimed at producing a programme for Perform in Perth, a stable core for Festive Fa-la-la and some small ensembles for events where space is limited.

When and where?

Sundays 28th October, 4th November, 18th November, 9th December, 27th January and 24th February

2 - 4pm     Birnam Arts Centre, Station Road, Birnam, PH8 0DS

£75 for all 6 workshops (payable at the first session)

Because of the potential range of instruments/standards, advance booking is essential - please contact us by Tuesday 23rd October if you would like to take part.

Other relevant dates
Festive Fa-la-la Rehearsal Saturday 15th December (morning)
  Performance Thursday 20th December (evening)
Perform in Perth Festival runs from 1st - 16th March 2019
It is not essential to be able to participate in the above events to be part of the Performers' Group.
Provided you keep us informed, we can plan accoringly.

Instruments and Standard

Orchestral woodwind, saxophones and brass.  Please be aware that, for the sake of balance, we may have to limit the numbers of certain instruments - in particular, saxophones and brass.

Players should be a minimum of around Grade 3 standard (no upper limit).

Given the nature of the group, commitment is important.  However, it is not essential to attend all 6 rehearsals - so don't be put off signing up if you know you have to miss one, or even two.

Performers' Group effectively replaces most woodwind and saxophone/brass workshops in Birnam for the Autumn term.  It may be possible for players to take part in a single Performers' Group rehearsal - however, this would e at our discretion and would be more expensive than a standard workshop!  (Perth, Callander and Crieff workshops remain as before.)
