Easy Festive Blow

Woodwind – Saxophones – Brass

Would it suit me?

The Easy Festive Blow caters for adult learners or ‘returners’ who play flute, oboe, clarinet in B-flat, bassoon, saxophone (all sizes) or a brass instrument.  This 90-minute workshop will suit players of between Grade 1 and Grade 3 standard, who would like the opportunity to make some festive music in an easy-level mini-band, with parts tailored to their ability level. Easier parts can also be provided for anyone with about 6 – 8 notes, though it helps to be reasonably confident reading music.

What will we cover?

Mostly, the aim is to have some fun playing festive music. However, you will also be acquiring transferrable skills including following a conductor, moving between melody and accompaniment roles and giving consideration to issues such as phrasing, balance and style.

Do I get music in advance?

Participants will be sent PDF practice copies of some of the music about a week or so before the event. If you’d like to come along, please give details of your ‘comfort’ range of notes, plus any previous musical experience when booking, so that we can aim to give you appropriate music.

What do I need to bring?

• Yourself
• Your instrument, plus any relevant accessories (e.g. strap/harness, spare reed, valve oil)
• Soft pencil and eraser
• Music stand (if possible)
• Reading glasses (if required)

What does it cost?

The fee for this workshop is £22

Closing date for bookings:

To be in a position to send out appropriate music for players to practise in advance, there is a closing date for bookings of Monday 30 November.

Should you find, after booking, that you will be unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. There may be other players on a waiting list who would be glad of the opportunity to fill your space.
